Kvarken-Sweater knitting pattern pdf english

Waves gently lap the stoney beaches. The rocks in the moraines lay like pearl necklaces in the landscape. This sweater represents the barren coast’s nature, of times long gone and of historical fishing sweaters. A simple but elegant sweater for everyday use and special occasions. The original sweater is knitted in a grey tone that symbolised the unique “Vaasa-granite” but it can, of course, be knitted in your desired colour. We have chosen a 100 % Finnish yarn, made in Finland of wool from Finnish sheep.

Needles: 40 cm and 80 cm circular needles (for larger sizes 100 cm) and double pointed needles 3.5 och 4.5 mm or size needed to obtain gauge

Notions: 9 stitch markers, 8 in one colour and 1 stitch marker in contrasting colour.

Gauge: 17 sts and 22 rows = 10 x 10 cm stockinette stitch. Knit a gauge swatch and change needle size if needed to match the gauge in the pattern. If you have more stitches per centimetre, change to a larger needle size. If you have less stitches, change to a smaller needle size. It is more important that the number of stitches match, than the number of rows for the gauge.

As a tip, you can start knitting a sleeve, and measure this instead of a gauge swatch.
